Good Snake’s Greatest hits

featuring our favorite projects

Savage media

With only a few days to spare, Savage Ventures needed a last-minute bold and impactful mural to seal the deal on creating a casual vibe for their new office space. With CMA Fest and American Songwriter Magazine hot on its heels, Good Snake designed and painted this 20 foot lava lamp in less than 24 hours! The mural functions as a dynamic, yet low impact wayfinding tool to guide and invite visitors into the space without the use of distracting traditional signage or stanchions. This delightful conversation piece was enjoyed by all, and will be featured in a mini-doc reviewing the event!

Crush (hulu feature film 2022) Directed by sammi cohen

Award winning production designer Tracy Dishman partnered with Good Snake to create original art, title sequence fx graphics, branding, and prop design for this feature-length queer, young adult film, directed by Sammi Cohen and produced by Animal Pictures for American High studios.

Synopsis: “When a young artist is forced to join her high school track team, she uses it as a chance to pursue the girl for whom she's been harboring a crush. But she finds herself falling for an unexpected teammate and discovering what real love feels like.”

Not only did Good Snake’s Kayla Fritz get to create all of the lettering and art used for the mysterious KingPun character (and title sequence), but she also created a key prop used throughout the film: KingPun’s sketchbook!

try hard coffee Roasters

Try Hard Coffee is a Sprudgie Award-Winning Coffee Shop located in the heart of Austin’s East 11th Street Historic Black Neighborhood District that partners with mutual aid organizations, musicians, and artists alike, to use their coffee roasting for good. While Try Hard already had their own branding in the works, they called on Good Snake to create hand painted signage and other graphics to showcase their community-minded brand, but with a Good Snake lens. The result? Tie dye paint effects, glitter, art pieces, and hilarious hand-sculpted magnets sure to bring a smile to those who visit the welcoming space to hear their local daytime vinyl-only DJs and enjoy a cup of expertly brewed coffee, try some scratch-made eats, or delight in their mixologist espresso drinks. Distribution Hall: covid-19 Community Mural project

At the height of uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic, we wanted to create something collaborative that would steward a small moment of positivity for the community, and simultaneously allow local artists to have the creative opportunity to express their fears and frustrations of current events through an unfiltered outlet. We put out an open call inviting 5 local artists to participate alongside us, and Carmen Rangel, Lauren Napolitano, Jessica Fontenot, Riley Williamson, and Emily Mente answered. Austin business Distribution Hall graciously offered up the art space, safety equipment, and artist stipends to make this dream a reality.

Austin fc - MLS soccer team

When new MLS team Austin FC needed a finger on the local pulse, they called on Good Snake to create an inclusive visual voice to match their Austin-community-focused soccer brand. Partnering with their Artist Initiative and global outdoors brand YETI, Good Snake developed artwork that brought the team’s identity to life in merch, printed goods, and digital campaigns!

The Commodore Perry Estate

Perhaps one of Austin's most interesting diamonds in the rough, the expansive Commodore Perry Estate project was constructed in 1928 and featured Italian Renaissance-inspired architecture and garden parties to never forget. The 10-acre property has seen Austin change inside its walls and out, until, most recently, it sat vacant for several years as it prepared for its next big act. When developer Clark Lyda and team acquired the property with plans for a luxury hotel, he reached out to Good Snake about developing a hand painted visual signage system using the available archives and handwritten notes from the original occupants of the lush and sprawling Gatsby-esque grounds. Together, Good Snake and a team of top-tier architects, investors, designers, and builders worked to develop a wayfinding design system that would help guests easily navigate the grounds and stay true to the historically-minded vision of interior design tycoon Ken Fulk. We produced a series of hundreds of hand lettered signs and custom maps that respected the historic space and transformed the sense of place with a true Wes Anderson-esque sense of wonder throughout the property.

We Are Blood: The Blood Donation Center of Central Texas

The Blood Donation Center of Central Texas, now known as “We Are Blood,” updated their brand, and needed new signage, wall graphics, and wayfinding in each of their donation centers to match it. We worked with their Director of Brand to design and implement a system of relatable and welcoming environmental graphics to communicate a sense of place across all three Austin-area locations, incorporating hundreds of Good Snake-designed and Good Snake-painted signs in the process.Together, we integrated the new brand from its conceptual form on paper into the real world through thoughtful visual activation to be accessed by the larger community.

Hot Luck

Hot Luck is a three-day live music and food festival celebrating fire, food, and music, with a lineup of award winning chefs and culinary trailblazers from restaurants across the country. Combined with pop-up events and complementing musical tastemakers, this global food expedition made accessible from the comfort of a single city is not one to miss. Guests eat and drink their way through the work of more than 60 of the world's top chefs, and have a front row seat to all the musical action Austin has to offer in various themed events. Since its inception, our resident sign painter, Kayla has taken the lead on the brush for several consecutive seasons, while Hannah has worked on an effective plan-of-wayfinding-attack with Austin creative agency Guerilla Suit to manage the production of hundreds of hand-crafted signs. Using the crucial ingredients of handmade decor combined with thoughtful materials and a trustworthy partnership with design talent, Good Snake has brought to life the existing Hot Luck brand through exciting wayfinding that elevates spaces and transforms the festival environment into a food lover's paradise that would stand the heat of the kitchen and Texas for years to come.

Industrial Terrace

When tasked with designing and producing an accessible hand-painted wayfinding signage system to fit the headquarters of builder Marc Knight of Knight Construction, we wanted to be sure that we preserved as much personality and attention to the act of making and materials as possible throughout the space, down to keeping the original measuring marks present on each sign. Drawing inspiration from timeless typefaces, faraway lands, and harsh industrial elements, Good Snake created a robust yet elegant way for visitors and tenants to navigate the large building and interact with architecture in an intentional and self-guided experience that encourages exploration and appreciation of the space.

Komé Group

Kayo and Chef Také Asazu have no trouble getting customers in the door; as anyone from Austin will tell you, their award-winning restaurant team’s culinary magic speaks for itself. When the busy restauranteurs noticed flow issues in their downtown marudori ramen shop, they called on Good Snake to develop inviting environmental graphics to help customers more-easily navigate the pocket-sized space. As our ethos, we assist on projects that address the most pressing needs of a business, always with a focus on creating evergreen and changeable assets, without overwhelming existing visuals, and working to match or extend a business’s current brand. Over the years, we’ve continued to add value to the family of Komé Group’s restaurants, with printed and painted works in the form of interiors, menu design, and merch creation. With new scalable product development to provide their customers with a streamlined visual experience, Good Snake has carried the brand’s attention to detail in a form that can be appreciated both in restaurants and in a take-out box at home.

Shiner Beer

The favorite craft beer of Texas had acquired four brand new Harley Davidson motorcycles that were slated for a road show across the state. How could those bikes make a big impression? With Good Snake’s help, of course! Four sparkly black Roadsters rolled into our studio one day, and just a few short weeks later, well… take a look at the photos to see for yourself. With a little vision and orchestration from Hannah, some intensive brushwork from Kayla, and a fantastic team backing us up, including printmaker Denton Watts and motorcycle and hot rod customization wizards Josh Treviño and Allen "Doc" Brown, we made these special Harleys ready for the road and an audience.
